Airtel, Vodafone going to invest Rs6,000 cr. in West Bengal

Vodafone , Airtel Investment in West Bengal of Approx Rs6000 Cr

Vodafone and Airtel are planning to invest Rs6,000 crore in West Bengal in the next 3 to 5 years. Some of the projects are already under process. Simultaneously, the telecom companies are also pushing the government for permission to construct towers on government buildings.

“Airtel has already invested Rs13,000 crore in West Bengal and another Rs3,500 crore investment is under going and will spread in next few years,” said Rakesh Bharti Mittal, vice chairman, Bharti Enterprises at the just-concluded Global Business Summit, 2017.

The major requirement for these projects from the state government the space is for putting up towers in their buildings.

Vodafone India has signed an MoU/Agreement with the state government which includes an investment of Rs3000 crore over the next three years for capacity enhancement and new business initiatives. The MoU aims at expanding Vodafone’s presence in the state through enhanced network capacity.
